Betty's obituary

Betty Crawford also know as “Betty Boop”was born in Alabama to the late Lorene Ellis and Willie Bledsoe in 1955. As a young teenager Betty moved to Boston Ma. In the early 70s she welcomed a daughter named Ernestine Crawford in 1972 and then welcomed another daughter named Genevieve in 1973. Betty’s purpose in any and everything she did was driven by her children. She always wanted what was best for her kids. Betty was an inspiration for everyone who knew her. Around this time she met who she called”her adoptive sister”a beautiful kind soul which developed into a wonderful friendship the late Stacia Marsh. Betty was so eager to see the world and what the world had to offer nothing could stop her. As Years went by Betty had two more children: a daughter named Sherreal in 1981 and a daughter named Christina in 1989. Betty was so full of life but begin to feel like she wasn’t fully complete because she had not completed her education but eager to do so and show her kids that you can do anything you put your mind too she went back to school to get her high school diploma. Her family was so proud of her accomplishment especially her children she was an inspiration to them who were very proud of her. All who knew Betty loved her she was kind and gentle shy at times but she had a sense of humor she could always make you smile. When Betty was around she always brightened up your day even if she didn’t say much her presence alone was enough she was the life of the party. Betty’s caring and loving demeanor always drawn people to her she was adored and loved by many. Betty was a driven dedicated hardworking woman. Over the years Betty worked as a bus monitor and then as a lunch monitor. The children she encountered over the years loved her they said she was the sweetest. Betty’s true passion was cooking and helping others. Her passion for cooking in the kitchen finally came to fruition once she got the job at Franklin Park Zoo. She was ecstatic. She loved cooking for others. And oh boy could she cook. Every holiday and birthday she threw down in the kitchen. Barbecue chicken, Mac and cheese,collard greens,candied yams,sweet rolls and banana pudding to name a few. Another one of her talents were sewing which she enjoyed. She sewed many beautiful quilts for her grandchildren. She was an amazing peer leader in her community she loved helping out anyone who was in need. Betty was a fearless and selfless woman.She gave back to her community every chance she got. Betty has accomplished so many great achievements in her years which has been an inspiration to us all. But with great sadness our beautiful Betty at the age of 67 was called home unexpectedly. We will miss our sweet Betty. Her spirit will forever live in our hearts. She may be gone but she isn’t forgotten. Proceeded in death by her parents Lorene Ellis and Willie Bledsoe. She is survived by her four daughters Ernestine Crawford, Genevieve Crawford, Sherreal Crawford, Christina Crawford Her siblings:Dorothy Williams,Catherine Harrell, Jeanet Bledsoe, William Bledsoe,& preceded in death by Harry Bledsoe,Preceded in death by Stacia Marsh, Her Grandchildren: Lavender Marmalade,Dana Crawford, Azaria Custis,Jonell Williams,Ja'nelle Williams,Jonnae Williams,Sandra Williams,Johnny Williams ;a host of more grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Nieces/Nephews: Yavette Howard, Michele Moore, Tyrone Bledsoe, Terrell Bledsoe, Algeria Marsh, Gina Dunn, Kamika Marsh, Kalisha Marsh, Kegan King- Marsh, Natisha Marsh,a host of great nieces and nephews, Sister In Law: Patricia Bledsoe, Daughter In Law: Danielle Carr Best friends;Diane Williams,Stephanie Thomas and a host of friends cousins godchildren and many more relatives. Betty is missed and will always be in our hearts. Gods child a soul as pure as hers will forever live on. She is no longer in pain nor suffering she is rejoined with her parents her brother and her best friend/sister who welcomed her with open arms once she arrived at the gates.God has her now and she is now FREE. Our guardian angel.
