Betty's obituary

Betty Lou Craig (Shasteen), 79, was called home to walk with Lord on May 25, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family in Waxahachie, TX.

Betty Lou Craig was born on January 18, 1942 to Robert E. & Sofronia Craig in Carterville, IL. In 1960 she married the love of her life, Dausey Ray Shasteen, who forever lived in her heart after his death in 2009. They had two beautiful daughters; Carol Ann & Mary Irene.

Betty is preceded in death by her son, Randall Mullins; her parents Robert E Craig & Sofronia Craig; her brothers; Robert E Craig Jr. & wife Anna Faye Craig from AR and Thomas Craig from CO, her loving husband; Dausey Ray Shasteen; Best Friend; Rose L Jones

She is survived by two daughters; Carol Ann Horan & husband, Davis Horan of Waxahachie, TX and Mary Irene Williams of Benton, IL; five grandchildren Devin Rae & Spouse Daniel Boyd of Waxahachie, TX, Alya Horan of Spring Grove, IL, Jesse Fosse & wife Shelby of Waxahachie, TX, Carrie DeNeal of Carterville, IL and Rusty Reynolds of Clio, MI; plus seven great-grandchildren; Layton, Ryan, Lane, Scarlett, Bradley, Avery and Max; Sister-in-law; Linda Hickey of Marion, IL; Brother-in-law; Delbert Shasteen of Knoxville, TN; Multiple nieces and nephews; Lots of lifelong friends that became family; Don Jones; Teresa & Bill; Don E & Theresa Jones; and many dearly loved ones.
She also leaves behind Princess, her beloved dog.

Betty worked in the healthcare industry for many years where she was able to give care and love to her patients when they were no longer able. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother; She loved spending time and spoiling her grandchildren but especially her great- grandchildren. She was a fierce Mama Bear and was scared of no one when it came to her babies. Most of all she treasured and embraced every moment with them always telling stories from her past that will be forever cherished.
She was loved by all who met her and loved to joke and laugh.
Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
She will be remembered and deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 30, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1200 Marilyn Dr. Carterville, Illinois.
