Personal note from Kim Cyr-Goodyear

A Daughter’s Love: by Kimberly Cyr-Goodyear
To Betty Marilyn Cook November 24, 1932 – March 22, 2021.
My mother’s love has been the most precious of all loves.
The love she shared with her children was the most important role of all,
There was always kindness and compassion to be found in her embrace,
She was known for her famous hugs, they were true and genuine,
They were magic and made you feel like it was the most important last hug you would ever receive,
They were the best hugs.
She gave those special hugs to over 40 foster children that she nurtured and love as her own.
I always felt at peace when I heard her voice, so full of love, kindness, compassion, and patience that just wrapped around me,
You encouraged me whenever I fell, gently lifting me up, helping me to my feet without me even knowing it at all.
It was that motherly nudge that taught us to always be stronger than we thought we could be.
Your life was hard and at the same time, the most beautiful and the most courageous of lives I have had the honour to witness.
You taught us everything you knew about strength and self-love.
Never a whisper of pain or complaint, her voice was gracious and grateful.
When the winds and rains finally came,
She lived a life true to her faith, never faltering, not even once
She would even smile in those hard moments like she had a secret, a secret of peace that guided her through each and every moment.
You would look to the heaven's above, Mom,
Your faith was a bond that couldn't be broken.
You have given me the most precious gift I could ever own,
The gift of your love and your legacy that will carry on forever.
I see the light of heaven shining on your face.
I will miss and love you and keep you right next to my heart.
You're a part of me now mom.
The last 3 years caring for you has been both difficult and precious if not, the most precious time of my life.
I will remember our time with such fondness, remembering our belly gut laughs at something stupid on the tv or John trying to do the twist (lol)
Now spread your wings and soar to the heavens above and embrace your love and dance once again.
I will see you someday soon, Mom, to hear your beautiful voice in that promised land,
Where we can talk and walk hand in hand.

I have no doubt this was your first dance as you reunited with Dad...

I hope you will all take the time to listen to the love song that meant the world to my parents ... it is truly how they both lived their life together. It is rare and beautiful!

All my love always, Kim
