Betty's obituary
Betty had a variety of jobs, beginning at age 17 as a dump truck driver in summer for her father. Other jobs included retail clerk, knitting instructor, model, charm school teacher, substitute teacher, sales person and Stuckey’s assistant manager, but her favorite roles were being a mother and grandmother. She was active in church ministry serving in a variety of roles for many years at Norman Bridge Baptist/Lakeview Baptist in Montgomery and then in recent years at First Southern Baptist in Hope Hull.
Betty was a dedicated wife and mother and valued family above all except her Lord Jesus. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ernie Matthias Jr and survived by her husband of 75 years, J Thomas Chesnutt, and by her three sons, Tommy Chesnutt, Randy Chesnutt, Terry Chesnutt, and one daughter, Pam Adams; nine grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Chesnutt, Jason Chesnutt, Michael Warren Chesnutt, Sarah Chesnutt, Jeremy Adams, Josh Adams, Jennifer Gray, Eric Baty, and Heather Bryan. She also has ten great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the future and all will be welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Betty’s memory to First Southern Baptist Church, Lakeview Baptist Church or WLFB Faith Radio.
