Betty's obituary
We are sad to announce the passing of Betty Bacon (Catherine Sinnott) after battling cancer. She passed on Sunday November 27th, 2022, at the age of 78, peacefully surrounded by family.
She is remembered by her loving husband of 58 years Ron, son Mike (Kazu), daughter Paula (Clem), grandchildren Ian and Leanne (Kris), sisters Pat (Mike) and Janet (Mike), and her numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Ed and Cathy Sinnott, sister Norma and brother Ed.
Betty was born on March 13th 1944 in Toronto, Ontario, an air force brat. Betty earned her teaching degree at the U of S and was in the air force reserves but decided to be a stay at home mom to her two wonderful children. Betty volunteered for years with The Girl Guides of Canada as a brownie and guide leader as well as Camp Advisor at Pike Lake. The majority of her professional career was spent as the Manager of the Scout Shop where she helped numerous kids, parents and leaders share her love for camping and being outdoors. This reflected her own life, which included camping every summer with her family in BC, to Anglin Lake and the Yukon. She loved watching birds and wildlife at Pike Lake in the summers and spending the cold winters in Arizona. She had many talents including painting, crafts and baking homemade treats. We would be remiss as a family if we did not extend a special thank you to all Betty’s numerous happy hour friends on her behalf. We invite you all to raise a glass and have a drink to celebrate Bettys’ life well lived.
Services will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church – 624 Avenue I South on Saturday December 10th at 2pm. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the palliative care staff nurses and the congregation of St. Georges Anglican Church.
