Dear Betty was a staple in our family.  She was something you needed every day and couldn't live without.  She was like that to so many friends and neighbors . Your family shared a wonderful gift with us all.  Love and deepest sympathy.
My main memory of Betty is as the ultimate hostess. I think we can all still hear her say " can I get you anything, anything you want". It did not matter if you were at her house or your own house. She still wanted to make sure everyone was well taken care of. A very fantastic sister-in-law.

I first met the Cook family in 1980 when Larry and Betty were going to buy a computer for their daughter Katie, who was in college at the time.    Larry also was a manager at IBM (I was an intern) so I was a bit intimidated by him.   We went round and round on what to buy and ended up getting a PS2-Model 30 (essentially an old XT in a new cover).

Since that time, I have been involved with Betty, Larry, and Katie over hundreds of events.   Breakfasts at the golf course, holidays at their house.   I remember the time on Thanksgiving when the guests had left and we  proceeded to drink all the left over bottles of wine.

They have been a great family - centered around the nucleus of Betty.   Her warmth, humor, and gracious charm brought us together like moths to light.   I will miss her and send my condolences to Katie, Liz and Mike.
