Betty's obituary

Betty Annette Adoga (née Dobbins), aged 66, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Born on November 17, 1959, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Betty lived a life full of love, laughter, and her own unique charm.

Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Henry Leon Dobbins and Leatrice Hill Dobbins. She was predeceased by her brothers Jimmy, Timmy, and Carlyle and her sisters Evelyn and Cecelia. Despite these losses, Betty’s life was enriched by the love of her surviving family: her sons Markalo Dobbins and Udey T. Adoga Jr., her daughter Ushama Carpenter, and her cherished grandchildren Jason, Udey Abigi, Sumaiyah, and Nery. She also leaves behind a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless others who were touched by her presence.

Betty had a personality that was as vibrant as it was unforgettable. Known for her caring demeanor paired with a spicy attitude that could light up any room, she embraced life with authenticity and passion. She wasn’t perfect and she would be the first to admit it, however when she loved you, she loved you deeply and showed it in ways that were uniquely hers. Her kindness and warmth were matched only by her fiery spirit, a combination that made her truly one of a kind.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Betty loved watching a good murder mystery unfold on screen and had an eye for treasures while thrifting, what she affectionately called "junking." Rainy days often found her savoring a pot of homemade spaghetti with green bell peppers paired with a glass of black cherry Kool-Aid. Music brought her comfort and inspiration; Kirk Franklin’s “Stomp” held a special place in her heart as one of her favorite songs. On certain nights you would hear this song on repeat throughout the night.

Betty’s beauty shone through not just in appearance but in the way she carried herself, with spice and grace intertwined. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew her best.

May The Most High grant her peace as those who loved her hold onto the memories of her vibrant spirit and enduring love.
