My prayers and condolences are with your family with this sad loss of Betsy. We were neighbors in South Charlotte’s Mountainbrook neighborhood from grades 7-11 and attended Quail Hollow JH and South Mecklenburg HS.  My wife Debbie Gilmore was in her grade. The Wentzes including Buck, Irma, Skipper, Kathy, Betsy, Susan and Beau Poodle were like my second family and always welcomed me. I spent countless hours playing Monopoly, Canasta and other fun games with the spirited sisters. Betsy was creative, fun and always happy. She will always be a part of my teen year memories.  RIP Betsy 🙏 ❤️.

What can I say about someone I’ve known and loved dearly for over 50 years except that she was “special”and “precious” to me.

She over came all the many hardships dealt to her at a young age to become the graceful, beautiful and loving person that she was.

She was funny and loved to make you laugh. She was caring and always there when you needed her. She was the best mother to Josh and Shannon, Sara and Ricky and adored her 4 grandchildren. Family was for sure her true love and of course Steve stole her heart at first sight.

She hid nothing from anyone and was definitely not afraid to speak her mind…to anyone…

I will miss her terribly but have so many beautiful memories of all the great times we had together.

May you rest in peace my friend. I will miss you but you’ll always be in my heart♥️

I love you Bets

First, my Prayers to both families. I have known Betsy and her family since we were kids and I went to Jr High and High school with her husband, Steve. I last spoke to both Betsy and Steve at our 50th High School reunion in 2023. She will be missed.

I am Josephine the last time was after she retired from Belks, Betsy was a dear friend and coworker. When I first came to Belk in the 90s she was my trainer and she train me well, Betsy, new they was Transferring my job to Raleigh, North Carolina, and I was to work at Belks at the triangle town center. betsy would say Josephine stand your ground. You can do this even though you’re moving to a big city you can handle this I was a little afraid because I’ve never worked in a bigger store with new faces.
