I knew Beth briefly in 1972, after returning to Ohio State graduate school from the Army.  She was a very sweet and kind person, and someone whom I have never forgotten.  She rode a yellow 10-speed bike to campus at the time, and we took a short bike ride together one nice summer afternoon. My "book-bag" at the time was an old 1945 WW II Army knapsack that was coming apart at the seams. Beth "lovingly" mended it for me one day. I still have that knapsack, and I looked at it again just now to recall and connect to that wonderful human being, Beth Pettibone.
Beth and I were close friends since our college days. She will always be with me as long as I live. I will never forget her unique sense of humor, where I was often slow on the uptake, but once I saw where she was coming from some situations became incredibly funny. Beth went out of her way to care and do extra things for the people she knew. She did the same for animals, like the stray cats she went out and fed daily behind the Graceland Shopping Center. She always had several dogs and cats in her home as well as several deer who sensed that her yard was safe territory. Beth was a kind and gentle person who will be missed.

We cherish the friendship we had with you. We we always fondly remember the great times we had camping, hiking and visiting with each other.

I am truly sorry to hear of your passing. I only knew you for about six months, but we became very close. You were one of the kindest people that I ever met and your passing will leave a void in my life. Best wishes on your journey and I hope to see you when my time comes.

Dear Mike and John,
I was so sorry to hear of Beth's passing. I enjoyed talking with her during our Home Church meetings. I pray for your peace, the peace that passes all understanding which comes from our Lord.
With sympathy,
Sue Hetrick
