Bertha's obituary

Bertha M. ‘Pinky’ Francis (Healy), 92, passed Saturday, March 28, 2020. She was the wife of the late Arthur T. Francis, Jr. for 50 years. She was born in Providence and was a daughter of the late Vincent A. and Bertha M. (Larsen) Healy. Bertha graduated from URI in 1950 where she earned a BA in Home Economics and met the love of her life. She was a teacher of Home Economics in the East Providence School System for 25 years where she retired in 1988. Her favorite past times included becoming a “Snowbird” living in St. James Village, Bonita Springs, FL and RI, playing Scrabble with family and listening to all kinds of music. She was a communicant of St. Kevin Church, and a member of its Women’s Auxiliary club, and a participant of INSIGHT and their Books on Tape, the Pilgrim Sr. Center and their exercise and dance classes. and Cornerstone.
She is survived by her six children, Susan D. Francis, Arthur “Tom” Francis, III and his wife Beth Conley Francis, Vincent A. Francis and his wife Kathleen, Raymond E. Francis and his wife Mary Sharon, Elizabeth A. Stevens and the late David E. Stevens, and Carrie Lynn Francis. She was the grandmother of Kerri-Lyn, Kevin, Vincent, Michael, Alexandra and Samuel Francis, Isabelle and Jasmine Stevens, Katharine Avanesov and Shana Dooley; great grandmother of Leo and Margot Mae Avanesov, Ian and Gael Molina-Dooley. She was the sister of Victoria Ellis and the late Claire L. Blackmer and Helen V. Bragger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date in St. Kevin Church, Warwick. Memorial contributions to INSIGHT, 43 Jefferson Blvd. Warwick, RI 02888 or Hope Health Hospice Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 029064 will be appreciated.
