Bertha's obituary
Bertha Margaret Deschner, 79, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on February 27, 2025, in Sun City, Florida.
Bertha, aka Bert, Babe, Babydoll, was born on July 15, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the baby of the family, born to Peter & Bertha Deschner and the little sister to Tony & Tessie. She grew up on Detroit's east side and attended St. Thomas and Lutheran High School East. She began her 39 ½ year career as a key punch operator at Chrysler Corporation and retired from the information technology department in 2005. She spent her 20-year retirement enjoying her home in St. Clair Shores, “up north" in Harrison at Marty's cottage, traveling to California, Texas, and spending the last 10 years as a snowbird in Apollo Beach, Florida.
Her passion for dogs was evident in the love and care she gave to her adored Muffin, Gabby, and Daisy. She had as many dog friends as people!
Affectionately known as Auntie Bee, she was the proud aunt, biggest cheerleader, and fierce protector of her "kids," and her auntie status spanned far beyond family.
Bertha has been described as an example of honesty, independence, and perseverance. She loved traditions and making memories.
Bertha is survived by her niece, Tracy (Brian) Teodecki; her grandnieces, Tess & Faith; and grandnephew, Bryce; Marty Ruggirello, her life-long best friend; and many beloved cousins.
Please join us for a celebration of life luncheon on her 80th birthday, July 15, 2025, from 11-3pm at Lakeland Manor.
