Bernice's obituary
Bernice "Benice Berry" Randal (Barnett) Berry, fondly preferred as Bernice, passed away on January 29th, 2013, just short of her 67th birthday. Born on January 31st, 1946, Bernice was a figure of indefatigable spirit and boundless energy.
Bernice was known for her outgoing personality and a love for life that drew her to the center of everything. She was vivacious, animated, and unabashedly herself, never failing to infuse life into any room she entered; her eccentric yet warm presence would be dearly missed.
One of Bernice's most noteworthy accomplishments was nurturing and guiding her eight children to adulthood, despite the daily challenges. This feat stands as a testament to her resilient spirit and unyielding will, proving that even without formal education, sheer willpower and determination can overcome all odds.
Bernice's life, albeit imperfect, was full of lessons for those who knew her. Her daughter, Laura Barnett, who survives her, recalls, "My mom was not the best mom. She made a lot of mistakes, but she is my mom, and her being her, pushed me to be better. But at the same time, she made sure I knew I was not better than anyone else. She taught me to respect everyone and not hold on to anger." This humble philosophy has been a guiding light for her children and those around her, shaping them into compassionate, respectful individuals.
Bernice's life leaves behind not just memories, but a legacy of love, resilience, and humility that continues to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of her journey.
