BERNICE's obituary

Bernice Elvia (Holliday) was born January 20, 1946 in Port Gibson, Mississippi to the parents of St. Mark Elvia and Ruby Lee Caldwell (Elvia). She was their only child.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents and grandson (Gregory N. Halley, Jr.) She leaves behind one son and five daughters to cherish her memory, Luke Dorsey (Latoya) of Brown Deer, WI, Tara Haymond of Greenville, MS, Taracia Hoover of Greenville, MS, Trina Holliday of Boca Raton, FL, Twjuana Holliday of Memphis, TN, and Trevonna Jackson(Roy) of Horn Lake, MS, and her special granddaughter Ti’El Haymond of Greenville, MS. She leaves behind 24 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and many family and friends.

She converted to Catholicism in her early twenties and became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Bernice attended and graduated from Simmons High School in 1964. She became a college student by attending Mississippi Valley State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in 1976. She continued her education by earning a Masters of Education degree in August 1981, and later she earned her Education Specialist Degree with approximately 9 hours towards her Doctorate. Bernice was a loving mother and school teacher. She loved her life and lived it to the fullest. God knew his child was tired of hurting physically and called her home to rest on November 12, 2020.
