Bernard's obituary

IN LOVING MEMORY
Bernard Anthony Trembly, Jr.
June 27, 1945 – February 20, 2018

Bernard Trembly,72, known to his friends as “Berney”, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, with his family by his side, in his home in Escondido, California. The only child of the late Bernard A. and Margaret M. (Nealy) Trembly, he was born in Troy, New York on June 27, 1945.

He is survived by his devoted wife and companion of over 50 years, Colette Trembly; daughter Kimberly A. Trembly of Escondido; son, Patrick A. Trembly of Escondido; five grandchildren, Matthew A. Trembly, Kimberly (K.C.) and Sean Dutton; Jack A. and Kendra M. Clark; and two dogs, Titus and Abby Sue.

This amazing and accomplished man graduated from La Salle High School, Sienna College and Albany Law School. After one year of law school, however, he stopped to serve his country in the Army for two years in Heidelberg, Germany. There he was recognized as an “Outstanding Soldier” and an example to all.

He began his legal career in Troy, New York as a top prosecuting attorney. After working for the State of New York as one of the state’s most influential young attorneys, he became Director of Marketing for the Olympic committee for the 1980 winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. This position of great importance took him all over the world.

In 1986, he bravely packed up his family, his dog and his genius-level I.Q. and headed 3,000 miles west to Escondido, California. Here he studied for and immediately passed the California State Bar Exam and continued his legal career at the age of 43. He then went on to become President of Founders Club Golf Company, a Real Estate Broker, an Estate Planning attorney and finally, a Federal Judge. He was appointed by the president of the United States as an Administrative Law Judge in 1997. His family remembers his pride and devotion to this powerful position and they also remember even having to address him as “your honor” at home for the first six months. He retired after 15 years.

Berney excelled in everything he did, especially sports, from a very young age. On every football and baseball team in every school he attended and a lifeguard, he was also one of the best handball players in the State of New York for many years. He also ran countless marathons and triathlons. He loved to climb mountains and be outdoors. He would look around at all of the mountains in this beautiful part of San Diego County and boast that he had not only climbed but pooped on each and every one of them. He was a rock climber, glacier climber and certified rescue scuba diver.

Berney loved all animals, especially his dogs. He was tough, smart, passionate, brave, adventurous and had a lifelong love of learning. There will never be another one like him and he will be greatly missed. We love you Grampy.
