Bennie's obituary
In Loving Memory of Bennie Mae Nelson
🕊️ January 11, 1938 – July 10, 2025 🕊️
Imagine soft gospel music playing in the background…
A sunbeam pouring through the kitchen window.
The smell of cornbread in the oven.
A laugh that warmed your soul.
That was Bennie Mae Nelson — the heart of our family and the soul of every room she entered.
On July 10, 2025, at the age of 87, our beloved grandmother transitioned peacefully, surrounded by love, prayers, and memories that will live on forever. In keeping with her quiet strength and timeless grace, she was cremated with care by the Neptune Society.
Born on January 11, 1938, Bennie Mae was more than a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend — she was a storyteller, a safe place, a living example of faith and perseverance. Her life wasn’t measured in material things, but in the lives she touched and the love she gave. Whether through a warm embrace, a word of wisdom, or a plate fixed just the way you liked it, she made sure you always knew you were loved.
She wore her silver hair like a crown and her years like wisdom stitched into every wrinkle — each one earned, each one sacred.
She taught us to stand strong, to pray through, and to love without condition.
And now, she rests — not gone, but transformed.
Though her earthly body was laid to rest through cremation, her spirit is everywhere —
In the laughter of her great-grandchildren,
In the taste of sweet tea on a summer day,
In the quiet hum of a Sunday morning hymn.
We celebrate her life, her legacy, and the mark she left on this world.
We love you forever, Grandma Bennie.
You are not lost — you are free.
