Benjamin (Ben) Raymond Seykora Jr.
June 11, 1956- January 6, 2023
Ben was a Southern California native; born in Oakland, raised in Lakeside, and lived his adult life in Bakersfield and Tulare. He graduated from El Capitan High School in 1975, earned his Class A drivers license and hauled crude oil for Texaco for many years before taking a job as a machine operator at Coveris Assurance in Hanford, CA where he worked until his retirement in 2016.
Ben enjoyed riding motorcycles, hot rods, NASCAR, traveling, and spending time with his friends and family. Some of his fondest memories were spending time with his brothers and sisters at their family home in Bear Valley, meeting his father and step mother in Laughlin, NV; going on an Alaskan cruise with his wife; traveling around California with his best friend on the dirt track sprint car circuit; and meeting the guys for Menudo Monday.
Ben is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marla Seykora; mother, Ruth Sperling; and younger brother, Michael Seykora. He is survived by his only son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Katie Seykora; his four grandchildren Elle, Reese, Jonathan, and Justin; his siblings Cynthia Matsumoto, Laurie O’Connor, Stephen Seykora, and Andrew Seykora; his father and step-mother Benjamin Sr. and Nancy Seykora; many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
A graveside service will be held at Corcoran Cemetery, 4170 Waukena Ave., Corcoran, CA 93212, on January 27, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Following the service a wake will be held at Vejar’s Mexican Restaurant, 1293 S. K St., Tulare, CA 93274. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ben’s honor to Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue or another animal rescue organization.
