I will always remember Ben,  from all of my years in Crockett and with his interaction with my boys Chris and Matt. I remember one of the black pastors in Crocket, when he lost his infant child. "I may never get over this tragedy, but with God's help I will be able to get through this loss. My heart and life have more enriched knowing Ben.  May God always hold him in the palm of His hand. Please accept our condolences on behalf of the Tyler Chapter Football Officials.  Your family is remembered in our thoughts and prayers.
We're all so saddened by your family's loss.  We are praying for strength for you all.  I have a memory of Benjamin from when he was about  five years old.  He and Shae were friends and kindergarten classmates.  I can't remember why Benjamin had come to our house, but he walked into a very disorderly house.  He looked around for a little while.  Then he slowly shook his head side to side and said "This place is a mess!"  He spoke the truth, but I remember it made me laugh so hard.  I've thought of him often through the years  when my house has gotten to be a mess.  I wonder what would Benjamin Schaeffer think about this and I smile.

Once when he was younger, Benjamin passed by Leonard in the hallway at church without a smile or a hello (probably because he was still sleepy !LOL) Leonard  stop him with a "does it break your arm to shake and say Good Morning"! Benjamin stopped and came back, gave  him a wimpy handshake and mumbled hello. Leonard schooled him on always giving a strong handshake and looking the other person in the eye. (It's no telling how many times he had heard that at home!) Well, a couple of weeks of this and one morning Leonard turned to find Benjamin right in his face, with his hand sticking out and saying "Good Morning".  Then he busted into laughter and said "HaHa, I got  you first!" For the next several weeks it was a competition to see who would get to who first!  Always respectful. But honestly, I LOVED his goofy faces as much as his smile and laughter!

Your family is in our prayers.

I will never forget 7 yr old, snaggle tooth Ben Schaffer! His smile always made our mornings  in reading class, so pleasant! Ben was a friend to everyone in the second grade.
One of my favorite memories of Benjamin was sometime around his senior year of high school. Michael, Jack, and I were in Walmart looking around in the toy aisle. We look up and see Benjamin and Matthew walking down the aisle. Actually, we could hear Benjamin before we saw him 😊! We all spoke for a moment, joking around mostly. When we parted ways, we could hear the two of them laughing and joking with each other. Benjamin brought such joy and playfulness everywhere he went. He was definitely a light here on earth!
Prayers for the family.  Remember him as a student.  Good memories.
Praying for you and your whole family during this very difficult time. I only knew Benjamin when we were kids. He was always so funny and knew how to light up a room. I know he will be missed by so many. Gone way too soon. We love y’all! ❤️
Keeping you all in our prayers. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead. Sending our love.
