Benjamin's obituary
On January 11th, our beloved Dr. Benjamin Patrick O'Fallon went home to be with Jesus at the age of 30, after an unexpected and tragic accident.
Benjamin will be forever missed by his family who he left behind; his father and mother Patrick and Rebecca O'Fallon, sisters Madelynn (Samuel) Hass and Leah (Matthew) O'Fallon. He was the best Funcle to nephews; godson Joseph, Judah, Luke and Flynn. He is the favorite grandson of Sondra and William Brust, as well as beloved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, his special lady Jayci, and countless friends.
He is greeted in Heaven with great joy by his grandfather and grandmother Patrick (Al) and Katherine (Betty) O'Fallon, as well as his aunts Mary Ann and Patty, older sibling Shelby, and many other angels.
Benjamin was born in Minneapolis on February 25th, 1994, and that was the last time he was late for anything in his life. He is the favorite son, and was deeply loved from day one by all who knew him. He grew into a fine young man in spite of persistent abuse and jumping-ons by his older sisters who love him so fiercely. Ben fought against the odds throughout his childhood, loving all things fuzzy despite his allergies and pursuing a passion for fencing despite his asthma. His challenges with health as a child inclined him to pursue a career as a doctor of Physical Therapy - he said often that all he wanted to do was help people. He graduated valedictorian at Pine Ridge Academy, then graduated with honors at Normandale and Jamestown colleges. Ben then went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Concordia St. Paul.
Benjamin got to live out his dream as a Physical Therapist at Fairview Health Services and most recently TRIA. He loved working with his patients, and would often come in early or stay late in order to accommodate their schedules. Ben would go to bat for his patients, calling insurance companies in his off hours to ensure that they received the care they needed. Again, all he wanted to do was help people.
Outside of work, Ben loved all things "games" - videogames, tabletop games, and always made time to play with his nephews. He was always active in his church community and would volunteer in outreach programs (ROOTS, Mission to the City) and other ministries, even becoming ordained so he could be Reverend Doctor Benjamin. There's a chance he also became a Laird somewhere along the way.
Benjamin gave beyond the end of his life by becoming an organ and tissue donor. Among these he has given the gift of sight, his strong bones and his generous heart.
A Celebration of Benjamin's incredible life will be held on January 25th at Hometown Church - Bloomington (2300 E 88th Street, Bloomington MN 55425). There will be a Visitation at 10am, with a service at 11am followed by lunch - because Ben never wanted anyone to go home hungry.
In lieu of flowers, all gifts will go to a scholarship in Ben's name for future Physical Therapy students at Concordia. Details will be made available as soon as possible.
