Benjamin's obituary
Benjamin "Ben" J. Dombek passed away on June 30, 2025, at UW Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, at the age of 39. Born on February 20, 1986, in Beloit, Wisconsin, Ben was a beacon of positivity and joy to all who knew him. He grew up in Beloit and graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 2005, marking the beginning of a life characterized by kindness, humor, and a profound love for his family and friends.
On June 1, 2013, Ben married the love of his life, Rebecca Trewyn. Together, they built a loving home and welcomed two sons, Daniel Sanders (step-son) and Andrew Trewyn-Dombek, who were the pride and joy of Ben’s life. Ben cherished his role as a father and husband, constantly striving to bring happiness and laughter into his home. He was employed by Goodwill for seven years, where he was known for his unwavering positivity and infectious sense of humor. A true Dad-joke connoisseur, Ben’s goofy nature and warm spirit made him beloved wherever he went. He often encouraged others to "be happy," a motto he lived by every day.
Ben’s passions included Star Wars—earning him the nickname "Ewok King"—as well as Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, reading, and watching anime. He was a loyal friend, a loving family member, and someone who could always be counted on for a smile or a kind word. Ben is survived by his loving wife, Becky, sons, Daniel Sanders and Andrew Trewyn-Dombek; his sister, Lizbeth Dombek; his nieces, Naomi and Ophelia; his sister-in-law, Laura Trewyn; his mother-in-law, Virginia Simms; Austyn, Lilly, and Skylar; and many other beloved family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeannie Dombek; his stepfather, Donnielle Boyle; his uncle Ronald Steponkus of Edgerton; and his grandparents, Bernice and George Dombek. A memorial luncheon and celebration of Ben’s life will be held in the Peoples Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday, August 16th, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. Flowers and memorials are welcomed and may be donated to the church for the family.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Ben’s co-workers at Goodwill, the nurses and medical staff of Beloit Memorial Hospital and EnCompass Health Rehabilitation in Fitchburg, as well as the many family and friends who have offered support over the years. Ben will be remembered for his boundless optimism, his love for family and friends, and his ability to bring joy to every room he entered. May his legacy of happiness and kindness still motivate all who knew him
