Good guy, my Triton and fellow "Hip Hop" professor...so appropriate yet painful to get word of his passing while attempting Blu and Exile "Beneath The Clouds" 15th Anniversary dhow. DJ Ultraman would have approved!

I met Benji in Taiwan when we both attended the Overseas Chinese Youth Language Training and Study Tour or what's more commonly known as "Loveboat". It was a summer of being young and carefree. There was a pretty large group of us that hung out together. Benji was definitely the more mature one of the group, never getting too drunk or acting ridiculous like some of the rest of us but never in a judgmental way. He was always kind and thoughtful. After that summer, whenever I visited Loveboat friends in LA, we would make a point to go wherever he was spinning to meet up. I know DJs hate it when people request songs but he would always humor me and play some song that I wanted. We were so young! That summer and all our friendships and memories that we made hold a special place in my heart as does Benji.
