Ben's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ben Costantino on August 15, 2023. Born to immigrant parents on November 16, 1933, Ben spent his 89 years imbuing those around him with his humor, love of life, and passion for cooking.
A man known for his infectious laughter and the joy he derived from food and wine (and Scotch Neat) , Ben reliably brightened any gathering. His ability to turn a simple meal into a celebration and his knack for captivatng story-telling left a lasting impression on all around him. He willingly shared his love for food and wine encouraging others to savour these simple joys of life.
Despite humble beginnings, Ben's unwavering determination and hard work led him to a successful career as a Fire Battalion Chief in Los Angeles City. His dedication to service, bravery, and leadership were the hallmarks of his professional life. His story of success, made all the more notable by his heritage, will continue to inspire for generations.
Ben's legacy is one of hard work, passion, and the pursuit of pleasure in everyday life. Ben enjoyed being a part of the North County Italian Association as well as the Elks. Those left behind will remember him as a beacon of resilience, joy and laughter. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan, son Richard Costantino, daughters Chris Meza and Sher Cardone, 10 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren who carries on his infectious spirit and love of life.
As we mourn the loss of Ben, we also celebrate his incredible life. In his honor, cherish your loved ones, indulge in good food and wine, and most importantly, laugh heartily and often.
