Beatrice's obituary

Beatrice Irene Hopkins of Salisbury, MD passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side on Thursday February 18, 2021 after a battle with Cancer.
Born October 21, 1940 she was the daughter of Richard Vandergrift and Laura Elizabeth Evans Powell of Delmar. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, of 40+ years, Fulton Lee Hopkins, Son – Joseph Henry Hopkins and grandson – Brice B Long III, sister- Debbie Twilley, brothers- Leslie Powell and Richard V. Powell Jr. and her beloved grand dog – Scooter.
Ms. Bea worked several years in the catalogue department at Montgomery Wards of Salisbury. She enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting, solving word searches and was an avid reader. She always looked forward to attending the Hebron Carnival and Shorebirds games. She loved baseball and football with a passion, and knew the stats of every player. As well as volunteering with the Strike out Cancer bowling fundraiser each year. Her favorite season was Christmas and had a huge collection of Village, nut crackers and Santa. She also enjoyed collecting light houses.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela Long (Brice) of Princess Anne and Cheryle West (Scott) of Salisbury. Along with her daughters she is survived by her sisters- Carrie Jean Reed (Johnny) of Bridgeville, Cathy Hopkins of Seaford, brothers- Carl Powell (Betty) of Dover, William Powell of Dames Quarter, Sister in Law Josephine Medlin (Larry) of Eden, Granddaughters- Jessica Parkinson (Jeff Hudson) of Atlanta, GA, Sara Long of Colorado and Ashley Parkinson of Fairmount, Grandson- Joseph Hopkins (Danielle Hill) of Delmar and grand dog – Dash. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and her best friends Lois Feldpush of Delmar and Betty Jean Long of Princess Anne and her extended bowling family.
