Barry's obituary

In Loving Memory of Barry Gober (1972–2025)

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Barry Llynn Gober on September 26, 2025, at the age of 52.

Barry was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend whose life was defined by kindness, intelligence, and generosity. He brought warmth, humor, and a spirit of welcome to everyone he met.

A proud Austin native, Barry graduated from Austin High School in 1991 and earned his BBA in Finance and Accounting from Abilene Christian University. At ACU, he was deeply involved in campus life—from student government to music ensembles and the iconic Sing Song productions—forming friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Barry’s professional journey led him to impactful roles in marketing and demand generation at companies including Harte-Hanks, Dell, Napa Auto Parts, Kony, Blue Prism, Matillion, and most recently, ECI. He was known not only for his strategic insight but also for his mentorship, loyalty, and ability to bring people together.

Outside of work, Barry was passionate about travel and adventure. He and his wife Angela shared a love of exploring new places, attending concerts, and snow skiing. Whether discovering a new city or hosting one of their famous holiday or Olympic-themed parties, Barry found joy in creating memorable experiences with those he loved.

Barry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Angela Gober; his father Lloyd Gober; his brother Bob Gober, and his children Nathan (his wife Rachel and their son Amos), Caleb (his wife Jenson), Anna, and Abby; and his sister Becca Garner (her husband Kirk), along with their daughters Michal, Marcie, and Mindy Garner. Barry was also survived by his two furbabies Jack and Jasper who will miss him very much. He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Shirley Gober.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Westover Hills Church of Christ in Austin, TX. All are welcome to attend and share in remembering Barry’s life and legacy.

To honor Barry’s memory, an endowment has been established in his name to support future students at Abilene Christian University. Contributions may be made at: https://bit.ly/barrygober

Barry's life was filled with laughter, music, generosity, and a deep appreciation for the people and world around him. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
