Barry “Tag” Gathercole, 64, of Coatesville, passed away on May 2, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Tag was the loving husband to Kelly Byrd Gathercole with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.

Born on January 8, 1958, he was the son of the late Robert Paul Gathercole and Shirley Rubincan Gathercole.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Kara (Dillon) Gathercole-Cava, Krista (Chris Nash) Gathercole, grandchildren Gianna Cava, Aslinn Cava, Leighton Nash, Kennedy Nash; brothers Tim, Joe, Kenny Gathercole, and a sister Karen Rhodes. He was predeceased by a brother Robert “Scats” Gathercole.

Tag was employed as the Director of Public Works for East Fallowfield Township since 2006. Prior to East Fallowfield he worked at the Borough of South Coatesville as their Road Master from 1991 - 2006. He served the communities of Western Chester County as a Lifetime Member of the following fire departments; Westwood, Modena, and West End Fire Companies. Tag also served on the Board of the Central Chester County Recycling Authority for over 25 years. Aside from serving the community, he was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, enjoyed antique cars, vacations in Ocean City, MD, and spending all of his free time with his 4 granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held on Friday May 20, 2022, at 12:00 noon at the Maclean-Chamberlain Funeral Home 339 W. Kings Hwy, Coatesville, PA. Viewing will be held 10 am until 12 noon.
