Barrington's obituary

Barrington Elgin Forrest was born in Kingston, Jamaica on May 8th, 1934. He had 3 children from a previous marriage, Alberto, John and Thais. In 1978, he married the love of his life, Marguerite Miller. Together, they bore 2 children, Keisha and Danielle. A man of few words, he expressed love by being a provider, not only for his family but also for his friends and community in Jamaica.

Barri was passionate about all aspects of life. He routinely started his day very early, which often included morning walks and playing tennis. An avid reader, Barri also enjoyed talk radio, political conversations, and a good debate with friends.

Barri was both disciplined and structured, traits he considered vital for success. His career was very important to him and he began working in the life insurance industry in the early 1960s, under the mentorship of Danny Williams. Barri excelled in his field, selling some of the largest life insurance policies in Jamaica, at that time. With dedication, loyalty, and industry, he worked his way up and soon became the Branch Manager for Life of Jamaica, a position he held for over 20 years. He took great pleasure in bringing out the talents and potential of each member of his sales team. His team had many affectionate ways to describe him - a motivator; developer of people; a man who turns visions into reality. He was known for using unconventional management techniques to motivate his staff and thought of them dearly.

Barri is survived by his wife Marguerite; his daughters Thais, Keisha, and Danielle; his sons, Alberto and Johnny; his brother Roy; son-in-laws Thomas Ramsey and John Serio; his daughter-in-law Rita Forrest and his grand-children Aydian, Reagan, Shiloh, Thomas IV, Kensie, Tyler, Gabrielle and Alberto Jr.
