Obituary

Barry Brennan was my husband, my partner, and my best friend for 48 beautiful years. Nearly five decades of shared laughter, quiet moments, challenges faced hand in hand, and a love that deepened with time. And even now, that love remains with me—unshaken and eternal.

Barry had a heart that was bigger than words could express. He was the kind of person who would never act in a way that might bring someone else pain, …

Personal note

Barry and I had a very close relationship – we relied heavily on each other and seldom participated in West Hollywood’s nightlife, especially in our later years. We enjoyed each other’s company at home. We had a few friends, but they passed as we all do. Although Barry was outgoing and talkative when he was in his comfort zone at work, Barry was quiet and always stayed within arm’s reach when we went to a party! Both of us enjoyed classical music. We frequently attended the classical exhibition nights at the surrounding universities. Barry was a great collector of all genres of music. His record collection totaled over 650 records, not counting tapes, CDS, and 45s, and a very big custom mix-tape collection. I found over 40 mix tapes when I was going through his collection. If you have ever made a mix tape, you know how long it takes. I asked his older sister, Barbara, what Barry did when he was young and at home. She said that he spent most of the time in his bedroom with the door closed, listening to music! His collection was so overwhelming at one point when I was upset and grieving, I said, “What do you want me to do with all these d___ records?” He replied calmly and affectionately, “Jim, I don’t care what you do with them. I won’t need them.” I was distraught and didn’t know what I was saying, and he understood.

Barry will be greatly missed
