With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Barrie Hayward, a remarkable man of vast depth and warmth, who entered into rest on April 24, 2026. Born on April 22, 1947, Barrie lived his life with a desire to give, to love, and to support those around him.

He leaves behind his children, Shawn, Jason (Nadia), and Heather (Duncan), with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. As a father, Barrie was a beacon of strength and compassion, instilling his values of love and kindness into his family. His son-in-law and daughter-in-law were accepted and loved like a son and daughter to him. Furthermore, his treasured grandchildren, Ben and Hilary, whom he considered his greatest pride and joy, will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He is predeceased by his loving parents Ruth and Arthur Hayward. He will be missed by his brother Dana (Lorna) and his sister Cheryl (Ken).

Barrie was a man of many virtues, but it was his selflessness, caring nature, loving soul and kindness that have left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a heart big enough to encompass all who came into his sphere, and he always put others’ needs before his own.

A Memorial service to celebrate the life of Barrie will be conducted on May 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Grace Gospel Church in Paris, Ontario. This is an occasion for his loved ones and those whose hearts he touched to come together, as we remember and honour a life beautifully lived and a man dearly loved. He will be laid to rest at Farringdon Burial Grounds following a short reception after the memorial service.

The family wants to extend their deepest thanks to the wonderful team at Brierwood Gardens for all of their support and care for Barrie during his most recent days.

Although Barrie's physical presence is no longer with us, the love, warmth, and kindness he embodied continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in tranquility, dear Barrie. You will be sorely missed, but your legacy of love will live on forever.
