Barrant's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barrant Johnson, a devoted father, loving husband, doting grandfather, and passionate restorer of classic cars. Barrant was born on July 24, 1958, and his life was tragically cut short on November 21, 2025.
Barrant was loved by his family; left to cherish his memory are his wife, Angela Johnson; his daughter, Natalee Plunkett; his sons, Navion and Najhon Johnson; and his son-in-law, Craig Plunkett. Barrant was the grandfather of Ariel, Savion, Nickoy Johnson, Navion Johnson Jr., Zahir-Amiri Plunkett, and Zuri Plunkett. He is also survived by his brothers, Desmond and Devon Johnson, Albert, Wilbert, Carlton, Fitroy, and Bradford Wellington; sisters, Clover Johnson and Laurel Wellington; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barrant was an eclectic and charming man, always the life of the party. He loved nothing more than sharing stories whilst sometimes enjoying his 'Everything plus Chicken Foot Soup' and a drink with ice melted to the point of water. Always a giver of great advice, Barrant often shared lessons about respecting and empathising with others.
A lover of all things auto, he enjoyed reading books on auto mechanics and watching YouTube videos. A Jack-of-all-trades, he had an insatiable appetite for learning new ways of doing things. He was always buying new parts or investing in the best technology to get the job done. He was a soulful man with a keen ear for the '80s R&B of Ronnie Dyson, Teddy Pendergrass, the Manhattans, and several Motown artists. Gregory Issacs, Beres Hammond, Leroy Sibbles, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis and Dennis Brown were among his go-to local artists. He was a keen viewer of documentaries and autobiographies and had a special spot in his heart for the movie "Harder They Come". Barrant was a Liverpool football supporter, and a lover of games like Ludi, Dominoes, and Checkers/Draft.
Never one to stay idle, Barrant enjoyed restoring classic cars. His favourite way to keep active was simply by walking and doing his auto mechanic work. In his downtime, he enjoyed being at local spots such as the Classic Car Shows and MeatUp Meat Market. During his younger years, he would be seen at Boscobel Guesthouse, Dunn's River, Cable Hut Beach, Super D, Rae Town, Harbour View Roundabout and Port Royal at Boggy
Barrant's most treasured cause was his family, and he held a deep love for them. His favourite colour was' verandah' blue. His legacy of kindness and goodwill lingers on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
