The memory of Barnabas will live with me forever. I first met him the summer of 1974 at Circle Pines Center. We spent many days and evenings together during the off-season in the 1970s when I was living nearby and would cut wood in the winter and also during 3 summer seasons including a student trip to the Rocky Mountains. Later he moved to the Boston area and we would meet up every couple of years when he was living with Lowry. I last track of him during Covid, then started meeting again when he moved to the care home. Sad to think that the trip I was planning to Portland this spring is no longer relevant. The last time I saw him was the the afternoon before a Bernie Sanders rally in Portland. He would have come along with me but wasn't up to it physically, we did discuss it at length though.
