Barna's obituary

Dr. Barna Allen Richards, 87, of Granbury, TX, passed away peacefully at his home on January, 28, 2023. 

Dr. Richards was born on 11-27-1935 to Ross and Winona Richards in Weatherford, Texas. After graduating from Wink High School in 1954,  Dr. Richards attended North Texas State College (now UNT) graduating with a BA in Biology in 1959. In 1963 Dr. Richards received his MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas. Dr. Richards received an internship and family practice residency at John Peter Smith Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas from 1963-1965. 

Dr. Richards was a beloved physician. His relationships with his patients and fellow physicians lasted a lifetime.  He had a private practice in family medicine from 1965-1991. During those years he also worked in the Emergency room. Dr. Richards served as the Medical Director and staff physician of the emergency department at Arlington, Memorial Hospital, Arlington, Texas from 1987-2006. He was also the Medical Director, EMS, for the city of Arlington, Texas from 1987-1997. 

Dr. Richards had many hobbies including travel, fishing and hunting. Alaska was his favorite place to be and one where he found many adventures. 

Dr Richards is survived by his wife Zotyne Richards and loving family. 

Information about a memorial service will follow. A private family burial will be at a later date.
