She is survived by her spouse, Mark Valente, and her treasured children, Nicholas and Cailee Valente. A devoted mother, Barbara poured her love into every aspect of her children’s life. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit lives on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Shirley and Irving Schwartz, and her brother, Andrew Schwartz. The memories she shared with them remain bright and cherished, illuminating the lives of those who knew her.
Known for her love of Duran Duran and Depeche Mode, Barbara's taste in music reflected her vibrant and vivacious personality. Her favorite films starred the elegant Audrey Hepburn, and she indulged in the simple pleasure of a warm cup of coffee numerous times a day. A fan of sudoku, Barbara's mind was as sharp as her wit. Her culinary specialty was her famous bean dip, a hit at every party, though her personal delight was indulging in a California roll and a spread from Zabars.
Her generosity, compassion, acceptance, and kindness were the true tenets of her character. Barbara lived her life with an honest funny spirit, teaching those around her about kindness, respect, and compassion. Her greatest accomplishments, she would tell anyone, were her two children and her beloved cats, Smokey and Baby.
