Barbara Diane Stokes Johnson was born December 19, 1954, the daughter of Arlander and Charlotte Woolard Stokes. She departed this life February 3, 2022.
She attended Bear Grass High School in Williamston, NC in 1973. She began her career in the United States Army in 1974, after serving 20 years she retired in 1994. She earned a Bachelor degree in Accounting at East Carolina University. She worked part-time for the last 5 years at Walmart, which she loved her co-workers.
Barbara married Nathaniel Johnson Sr. on July 5, 2012. She loved to song. She truly lived life to the fullest through the simple things and family. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was an active member at Mount Zenora Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother Charlotee Woolard Stokes, father Arlander Stokes, sister Betty Stokes Hopkins, and brother Paul Wayne Stokes. Barbara is survived by her husband Nathaniel Johnson Sr., son Kelvin Commons, her stepdaughters Ashley (Tierre) Gramma, Alonnia Burdis, Apriley Winfrey, Nasya Johnson, Stepsons Nathaniel Johnson Jr., Joshua (Jalacei) Johnson, sisters Brenda Stokes (William)Biggs, Paula Stokes Dance, brothers Larry (Shirley) Stokes, Randy (Ophelia) Stokes, Danny Stokes, and host of grandkids.
