Bobbi's obituary

Barbara "Bobbi" Sparling, 86, of Arcadia passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024, surrounded by family.  Bobbi was born in Los Angeles, Ca. to Harold F. and Florence Sutton, and grew up in Monterey Park,  Ca. She attended Ynez Elementary and Mark Keppel High School.  Bobbi was involved in many high school activities. She was a member the  Forensic League and treasurer of the Scholarship Society & French Club. Bobbi loved singing and  was a member of the Madrigals and an A Capella group. She was a member of the 'Toltecs' Tri-Hi-Y service club. She also contributed to the Yearbook. After graduation Bobbi attend UCLA and joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.  When her father died Bobbi was not able the continue her education. Bobbi married her high school sweetheart Harold Sparling on October 23, 1956. Hal was in the Army and Bobbi went with him. They eventually came back to Monterey Park until 1974 when they moved to Arcadia, Ca. Bobbi worked for the Arcadia School District for several  years. After which she worked for Monrovia Bank of America for 23 years.  Bobbi was active in church and held many callings. She was called upon as a chorister, Primary and Young Women's president, Road Show specialist, and Stake Leadership callings.  Many adventures were had with the youth. Conferences, Manti Pageant trips and one calling as a cub scout leader lead her to many years of service for the BSA.  Bobbi loved Geneology and finding her ancestors so she could have their temple work done. She found she had ancestors come to America on the Mayflower and served in the American Revolution.  She applied to the 'Daughters of the American Revolution' was accepted and served as Chaplin, Treasurer and was Regent for 5 years. Bobbi was smart and well organized. She will be dearly missed and always remembered.


Bobbi was predeceased by her Father and Mother and two sisters Carol Clancy and Shirley Bell. She is survived by husband, Harold Sparling, daughters Shawn Sawyer, Chrysa  Holdaway, and son Mark Sparling, son-in-laws Michael Sawyer, James Holdaway and daughter-in-law Beverly Sparling. She is also survived by 11 grand children, Grant Sawyer, Wendy Cleveland, Melinda "Suri Sawyer, Keith Sparling, Katie Staples, Kari Grover, Scott, Clarke, Brett, Shane Holdaway and Heidi Bolster.  Bobbi and Hal have 28 Great Grand Children, they are: Daniel, Brandon, Jacob, Scarlett Sawyer; Sadie, Brecken and Cora Sparling; Kaden, Taylor, Wesley and Shiloh Cleveland; Adonijah, Aria, "L" and Zuri Holdaway, Hank Holdaway; Chrystine, Keira, Samuel, Peter and Ethan Bolster; Landon, Moira and Nolan Staples; Kaerely, Elend, Lochlan and Lille Grover.   Bobbi requested a celebration of life be held in her honor with a traditional burial. We request all of Bobbi’s loved ones and friends to join us in celebrating her life at:

 Live Oak Cemetery in the Chapel on April 26, 2024. Viewing 10am, Service 11am-1pm, Graveside 1:30pm
