Barbara's obituary
Barbara “Bobbie” Marie (Reardon) Soetaert, age 87, of Parkville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025. She spent her final hours surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Gerald “Jerry” Soetaert, her parents, Harold and Nellie (Sodders) Reardon, sister Judy Simonich, nephew Jason Simonich, and other family members. She leaves behind two sons, Jeff and wife Vicki, Greg and wife Melanie and her daughter, Geralyn and husband Tony Starr, and three amazing grandchildren, Sydney Soetaert, Tyler Soetaert and Jackson Starr.
Barbara was born at Bethany Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas on April 21, 1937. She lived her youth in Armourdale, Argentine, and KCK, attending St. Benedict Catholic Grade School and graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1955. Upon graduation, she began her career at Mariner Finance. Shortly thereafter, an opportunity was available at Trans World Airlines as an executive assistant. It is there that she met and married Gerald Soetaert. Barbara was always a hard worker and driven in her career. She eventually left TWA to work for JC Penney as an interior designer. Ever independent, she studied to obtain her real estate license working for Eugene D. Brown, where she earned the Rookie of the Year Award and entered the Million Dollar Sales group.
Barbara found her passion in helping others through nutritional supplement sales. Working hard and studying under multiple medical professionals she eventually formed Nutritional Enterprises Inc., where she enjoyed many years of success.
Barbara loved to travel the world; her favorite spot being Maui. She enjoyed planting flowers, dancing, and always enjoyed a little retail therapy, especially a good bargain.
With St. Patrick’s Day in the air, and Barbara’s proud Irish heritage, her immediate family is grateful that they were able to visit her native County Cork, Ireland.
Her character, persistence, resilience, and love for her family will be missed by all. May she rest in peace.
Visitation at 5:00pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025, with the rosary to follow at 6:30pm. It will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64116.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 21, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
A burial will be determined at a later date.
