Barbara's obituary
Barbara Ann Reid (Pulsford) , beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away June 17th at the age of 90. Born on February 3, 1935, in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, she then moved to Melrose, Massachusetts, where she lived until getting married in 1956.
In 1954, she attended a business school and began her professional life at John Hancock Insurance Company. In 1956 she married the love of her life and embarked on nearly seven decades of partnership marked by deep love, devotion and shared adventures and joy. She and John lived in Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, North Dakota, Washington, Bergen, Norway, and Edinburgh, Scotland, before moving to the best place ever, Fort Collins, CO, in 2000.
Barbara found delight in life’s cozy corners. A devoted knitter, she also excelled in sewing clothes for her children, a small act of love. She also worked on cross-stitch, sewing curtains and latch hooking rugs. A favorite gift was her warm knit slippers.
She was known for her delicious apple pies, potato salad and Oatmeal Molasses bread and rolls, staples at countless family gatherings
She enjoyed 007 Movies, football on Sunday afternoons and Hallmark movies that mirrored her tender heart and enduring faith in love.
She was a guiding presence in the lives of many and is survived by her husband John Reid, Ft. Collins CO, one sister, Betty Woodman of Redding, CT, her son, William Reid, of Colorado Springs, CO and two daughters, Valerie Collins of Pueblo West, CO and Karen Spahr of Colorado Springs, CO, as well as her nine grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren. She was pre-deceased by their adopted daughter, Linda Rourke.
Barbara was a member of LifePoint Church in Ft. Collins, CO. and appreciated the support and family the church provided to her.
Barbara’s Family is thankful for the joy she brought into their lives- her home was a refuge and a place of comfort to all who visited. Her love was a consistent foundation and her legacy that the family will try to emulate.
