Barbara M. Power died peacefully in her sleep on May 18, 2021 at age 88. Beloved wife of the late Jeffrey R. Power. Mother of Deborah and husband William Cooney, Pamela and husband Frazer Pennebaker, and Jeffrey Jr. and wife Rosemarie. Sister to Richard L. Brown Jr. and wife Seena. "Grammy" to Jeffrey III and wife Emily, Olivia, Kerry, Mae, Audrey, and Nathaniel. Great-grandmother to Jeffrey IV.
Barbara was born in Middlebury, Vermont on May 20, 1932 to Hilda Mae and Richard Brown. She graduated from Middlebury College in 1953. A longtime resident of Cohasset, Barbara was very active in civic affairs, serving on the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. She also served the Paul Pratt Library for 38 years, first as President of the Friends, and then elected to the Board of Trustees. Barbara held a seat on the Board of Directors at Pilgrim Bank. As a talented horticulturist and floral designer, she cultivated a large garden at home, taught flower arranging, and judged floral entries at the Boston and Philadelphia Flower Shows.
Memorial service for family will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to Cohasset Library Trust, 35 Ripley Road, Cohasset, MA 02025.
