Her memory is also kept alive by the countless lives she touched with her vibrant personality. Her spirit is carried forward by her children, who will remember her as an independent, strong, tenacious, courageous, and funny woman
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Victor Nabors; her devoted son, Ronald Floyd; her caring brothers, Fred and Milton Muirhead; her grandson, Jonathan Floyd; and her dedicated son-in-law, Ben Quimby.
Barbara attended Mary Esther United Methodist Church. Her love for diverse music ranging from Jim Croce to UB40, Mozart, Beethoven, and others, brought joy and inspiration to her days.
She enjoyed the camaraderie of games including Scrabble, Penny Poker, and Roulette. She enjoyed being a military spouse. Her husband, Vic, was in the United States Air Force for over 20-years. They lived across the US and in Europe. Her adventurous spirit led her to diverse travel experiences across Florida, Germany, England, and California. She often took road trips to California, Las Vegas, Arkansas, New Orleans, and more. She loved all forms of art and enjoyed the local flavors of Hogs Breath and Bon Appetite.
Her legacy of perseverance and determination is exemplified by her accomplishments which ranged from becoming a registered dietitian to learning a variety of skills including tiling and electrical work.
Known for her spicy, humorous, yet stubborn nature, Barbara taught us many life lessons. Barbara was also known as “Maude” by many of Kelly’s high school friends because she looked like the Maude character on The Golden Girls and had her attitude. Her emphasis on independence and resilience was a testament to her enduring spirit and zest for life. She grew up poor in Memphis and had to work hard. She lived life hard and fast. She became a mother at a young age and had to learn to do many things on her own. She was very close to her brothers and their love for each other never wavered.
A commemorative event for Barbara will be held in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 9, 2026. In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised for "Gentiva Hospice". Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of….
