Bobbie Marek Muegge's obituary
Barbara Ann Muegge, affectionately and commonly known as Bobbie Marek Muegge, 79, of Dickinson, TX, went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2022.
Bobbie was born on July 30, 1943 to Frank and Emma Marek in Bay City, Texas as the third child of four. Growing up in Edna, Texas, Bobbie was a self-proclaimed "tomboy" who enjoyed playing outside, both watching and participating in athletics, climbing trees, swimming in the creek with her childhood best friend, and anything outdoors. Some of her fondest memories from her childhood were in Edna participating in her favorite outdoor activities, eating at her mama's restaurant, spending time on the family farm, or riding around town and going to the live stockyard with her father.
After graduating from Edna High School in 1961, she attended and received her bachelor's degree from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas and then received her master's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, WI. Bobbie then became a department head at Denton State School until leaving her professional career for the devotion of full-time family life with her only child.
In 1976, her family left Denton and returned to the Gulf Coast, residing in Dickinson, Texas until her passing.
Throughout her life, Bobbie enjoyed traveling with family and friends and spending time in Colorado with her son and his family. Some of her interests and passions included wildlife and nature conservation, Native American history and cultural preservation, women's social and political causes, working in her yard on the bayou, and everything and anything "Edna."
She is preceded in death by her loving father and mother, Frank and Emma Marek of Edna, TX; oldest brother Franklin Marek of Williams, AZ; sister and brother-in-law Georgia and JB Housson of Ganado, TX; and nephew John Howard "Babe" Housson of Ganado, TX.
She is survived by her son Kevin Muegge and daughter-in-law Melissa Muegge of Alvin, TX; brother John William "Cisco" Marek and his wife Theresa Marek of Edna, TX; grandson Joshua Muegge of Pearland, TX; granddaughter Alyssa Muegge Harrington and her husband Ryan Harrington of Waco, TX; great grandchildren Charlotte Muegge and Greyson Muegge; and all her beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held in Edna, TX to be announced at a later date.
"Looking back now as I do, I see things with a better perspective than ever before and in truer proportions. More clearly do I recognize that God is love. More clearly do I understand the universal fatherhood of God. More clearly do I know the brotherhood of man." - Samuel Palmer Brooks' Immortal Message
