Background
My mother was the most important person in the world to me. She passed away this afternoon, 10/11/2023 quite unexpectedly. She was in good spirits and health as of Monday. Overnight Tuesday she became ill and was rushed to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with a suspected infection. Upon arrival at the hospital she was responsive, however soon after arrival her condition went downhill quickly. Her heart stopped twice and they were able to revive her twice, which was against her specific wishes but I wanted them to do whatever they could to keep her around. They asked me if her heart stopped working again did I want them to continue to revive her. I asked how long she had been without oxygen which they stayed 4 minutes the first time and 2.5 minutes there second time. I asked how long it was between the first time her heart stopped and the second time which they told me 1.5 minutes. It was at which time I made the toughest decision of my life to have them honor her DNR request and stop being selfish and I knew at this point even if they kept her alive she wouldn’t be the same and she deserved to finally have peace. This loss was extremely unexpected, and the expenses of the service and burial will only be slightly covered by her life insurance from the state which is for $6,000. In addition the last minute travel and lodging is not something I could have accounted for. I am asking for help from friends, strangers, whoever can spare anything to help with covering unexpected expense of the funeral. If you personally are unable to, please share this story. As this just happened this afternoon, I don’t have more details yet but I anticipate the service to be the beginning to middle of next week sometime between the 16th-20th.
