Helping hands

In lieu of flowers

In lieu of flowers, consider a gift to Alzheimer's Association.

Grandma,

I may not have the words, but you always understood me anyway. You saw me—really saw me. You loved me without needing explanations or expectations. And I loved you just the same.

You were my safe place, my soft hug, my warm smile. I felt your love in the way you looked at me, in the way you held my hand, in the way you made me feel calm and whole. We had our own language—made of kindness, patience, and heart.

I will miss your voice calling my name, your hands smoothing my hair, your eyes lighting up when I walked into the room. I will miss your laughter and your love that wrapped around me like a blanket.

Thank you for loving me exactly as I am. I will carry your love in everything I do, and I’ll look for you in the quiet moments—because that’s where we always found each other.

Love always,

Michael

My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words. You were my everything—my safest place, my constant, my biggest cheerleader, my confidant. The sun truly rose and set with you. Life without you feels impossible right now.

You gave me a love so fierce, so full, so steady that it became the foundation of everything I am. You were never just “there”—you were present in every way. Every dance recital, every field trip, every heartbreak, every joy—you were by my side. You never missed a moment, and now I can’t imagine a moment without you.

I watched you love with such simplicity and depth. You didn’t ask for much—just love. And oh, how deeply you were loved. The way you cared for Daddy, for me, and my Alyssa and Michael—it was extraordinary. You helped raise Alyssa with the same quiet strength and boundless warmth you gave me. And Michael adored you. He felt your love in a way only he could, and I know he always will.

Your final days were filled with grace, gratitude, and love—just like your life. You gave until your last breath, always thinking of others. You left this world just as you lived in it: selflessly, lovingly, beautifully.

Mom, thank you for every lesson, every hug, every whispered prayer. Thank you for making our house a home. Thank you for being my mom. I will carry your love with me every day, and when I miss you most, I’ll close my eyes and feel your arms around me.

You’re with Daddy now, and I know that brings you peace. But I will ache for you every day until we meet again.

Love always and forever,

Your Dawn
