Barbara's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we must share the passing of Barbara Jean Maki who was born on September 28, 1943, and passed away on February 2, 2024. Barbara had a vivid personality, best described as a blend of wit, stubbornness, humor, and care.
Among her noteworthy traits were her brilliant cooking skills and a knack for crafts that she often used to bring warmth and affection into our lives.
Barbara thrived in the roles of a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also an exceptional homemaker. Her Sunday afternoon feasts were the epitome of her hospitality, love for food, and the joy she found in sharing it with her loved ones.
She often shared her skills and wisdom about baking and crafts, lessons that will be passed down through generations.
Barbara was a fan to heart of the Minnesota Vikings, her excitement and passion for the team always shone through during the games.
Barbara's dedication and love for her family were among her greatest accomplishments, and she has left behind a legacy of kindness and greatness.
She was a warrior- fighting and conquering stage 4 cancer, along with navigating the struggles of ALS with strength and grace.
Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved parents Conrad & Edith Swanson.
Mourning her loss are her loving husband of 63 years, Carl Maki; her sons, David (Jill) and Jim (Mary Jo) Maki; her treasured grandchildren, Dan (Kady), Andy, Zach (Brook), Alyssa, Matt (Stephanie); great grandchildren Ethan, Hayden, Abigail, Lillian and Lena.
Each one of them shared a unique bond with Barbara, and they will perpetuate her spirit through their own lives.
