I was Barbara's college roommate 1978 -1979 at American Univ.  We had so many laughs and late nights together in the dorms.  I have many memories of Barbara crashing on 50-page medieval history papers the night before they were due, but she always knocked them out of the park with straight A's every time! Barbara loved mashed potatoes and could eat a big bowl in one sitting. She had boundless energy and craved those carbs!  Barbara would approve or give 'thumbs down' to my various suitors & beaus. She sealed  many a man's romantic fate & mine.  I always sought her wisdom before dating & valued her judgments! I knew John Walton very well too.   Have I missed Barbara's memorial service? I  very much wish to attend. Thank you for posting an obituary in the Washington Post or I would not have known of my dear roommate's passing..

Jessie,Sam, and Eli,

Your mom was one of the smartest, most creative and devoted people I know. Each of you has a piece of her and like your mom it will never really leave you. She loved you guys a ton. Her humor, tenacity and intelligence will be remembered and immortalized in all of you, her friendships and causes.

Much love to all,

Sarah Bieber

A beautiful tribute to a beautiful woman

Love to all

Denise Jackin, Justin Gowen and I are sitting at Starbucks (where Barbara would frequently be) talking about how we can’t believe she isn’t with us and how much we miss her wit, compassion and devoted friendship. Barbara, Denise and I could share anything with each other and know that she would listen and be there for us. ❤️💐❤️
