Background
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to "Barb's Bakers", a fund established the Children's Home Society of Florida and their Partnership Schools Program hosted at Sabal Palm Elementary where Chris is a teacher. This fund will be used to support the students of Sabal Palm Elementary where Chris works and Barb volunteered with Chris' students. Every Christmas holiday, Barb would come to Sabal Palm Elementary loaded with pre-baked, holiday-themed cookies of Christmas trees, Santa Claus faces, wreaths, candy canes, with pounds of sprinkles and icing in EVERY color to decorate, and lots of hugs to share with each of Chris' students. Chris says "I would watch her patiently work with each student as they created their masterpieces and laugh as they gobbled them down. My siblings and I decided to keep Barb's tradition alive by starting the Barb's Little Bakers club in her honor at Sabal Palm CPS for the students to find their personal joy through baking. With these funds, we hope to purchase a mobile cooking cart that would allow cooking demonstrations and skills to happen in the classroom that will inspire a love for cooking/baking in the Sabal Palm CPS students that Barb had. We know that "Barb's Little Bakers" will carry on her memory and will definitely have Mom/Nana smiling down on all of us from above. "
