Forever in Our Hearts, In Loving Memory of Barbara E. Jablonski
Obituary
Barbara (Barb) Elaine Jablonski was born August 1936 in Kewanee Illinois, and, died February 16, 2024 in Long Beach, CA. Barb grew up in farm town known for the manufacture & sales of boilers worldwide, hog farming (known as the "Hog Capital of the World") and countless acres of corn fields along with her parents, Robert (Bob) & Julia Ross, and only sister, Geraldine (Jerry).
After graduating from Kewanee High School, Barb attended the St. Francis School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1956.
Barb would write to her cousin while he was a naval seaman, and he convinced Barb to be a pen pal to his roommate, Chester (Chet) Jablonski. This led to dating while he was in town and a lifetime of love. The two were married in 1956. They made the move to California in 1957and thereafter purchased their first family home in Buena Park, CA, a burgeoning suburb surrounded by dairies, citrus orchards and farmland. They raised four sons in that area: their first child, Robert (Bob) in 1958, following by Kerry in 1959, Christopher (Chris) in 1963, and Scott in 1969.
Chet & Barb divorced in 1972. Barb remarried and had her last child, Steven Muzila, in 1975. Later, Barb divorced Mr. Muzila, and as life may go, Barb & Chet began dating in 1987 and remarried in the 1990's.
In 1992, she had a major stroke that paralyzed her right arm and let and left her unable to talk. However, over the years her laugh grew louder and her spirits more grand, and she was a true inspiration to all.
Barb is survived by her loving husband Chet, her two sons: Kerry & Scott, and daughter-in-laws: Marisol (Kerry's wife), Andrea (Scott's wife), Leslie (Chris's widow) and Nancy (Chris's former partner & Haley's mom), Theresa (Steven's former wife) and Kerry Chan (Steven's former wife and Damen's mom) & Monett (Bob's former wife), ten grandchildren: (Bob's) Ben, Bryan, Robert, Sam & Malyssa, (Kerry's) Tiger & Zoey, (Chris's) Haley, (Scott's) Stephan Duarte, and (Steven's) Damen, and twenty great-grandchildren, Charlie (Webb) brother-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and hundreds of friends of all ages - she will be greatly missed by all.
