With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Grant Giles, of Palatine, IL, a cherished mother, beloved grandmother, and treasured friend. Born on May 17, 1949, Barbara's radiant spirit illuminated the lives of all fortunate enough to know her. Her journey on this earth concluded on August 12, 2023, due to a long struggle with COPD, leaving a void that will be deeply felt by her family and friends.
Barbara's legacy is one of compassion, resilience, boundless love, and an infectious sense of humor. Her ability to find joy in life's simplest moments was a gift she shared with everyone around her, brightening even the darkest days with her laughter. A natural storyteller, Barbara's anecdotes and witty remarks were sources of endless entertainment and camaraderie. Barbara also loved to read and was always engrossed in a good book. Her role as a grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, and she embraced this role with the same warmth and enthusiasm that characterized every facet of her life. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and the love she showered upon them created cherished memories to be passed down through generations.
Barbara's nurturing nature extended beyond her family, as she cultivated genuine friendships with a caring heart and a listening ear. Her home was a haven of love and acceptance, where everyone felt welcome and valued.
Barbara is survived by her children: Danielle Boscacci (Lee Boscacci), Robert Roszkowski (Karen Star), and Donald Roszkowski (Joanne Quesada); grandchildren: Olivia, Aniah, Sophia, Cameron, Antonio, Sunny, and Isaac; as well as her best friend and roommate Marty Throgmartin; her sister Tammy Evans (Arthur Evans); niece Nicky Evans; nephew Joseph Evans (Jessica Wolf); and countless other family and friends who loved her. She was predeceased by her parents, Estelle and Robert Kosmella, and her brother, Donald Petersen Jr.
As we remember Barbara Grant Giles, let us celebrate the profound impact she had on all of us. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts, gently reminding us of the power of love, kindness, and the enduring influence one person can have. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
May Barbara Grant Giles rest in eternal peace, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched. Barbara will be cremated, and the family will hold a small celebration of life ceremony.
