Barbara's obituary
Barbara was born in Long Beach on January 28, 1953 to Murley D. and Elizabeth Witt, where she lived until she met her husband of 10 years, Alan Ray Gordon. The pair moved around and traveled a bit, and had two children together. While their marriage wasn’t forever, they remained the best of friends, and in the late 90’s Barbara moved to Yucca Valley to be closer to Alan, who lived in nearby Landers. Alan passed away in late 2018, and if their afterlife is anything like it was while they were living, I’m sure he has already greeted her and she’s began finding new ways to lovingly pester him.
Barbara was known for her kind heart and wild ways. She was a headscarf wearing free-spirit who loved to paint, draw, and play the piano, with an eclectic love of both horror and comedy movies. She often joked about being a teenager stuck in an old woman’s body, and we know she’s happy to no longer be tied down by physical limitations, but instead free to soar like the angels she often loved drawing.
She is survived by her daughters Jill Armstrong and Kristy Gomez, her brother James Witt, her grandchildren Ashely Armstrong and Jake Armstrong, and her beloved cat Mugsy.
Barbara had many friends that are spread out across the state and beyond, so in lieu of a Memorial Service, the family has decided to hold a private Celebration of Life in the coming months, where they will spread some of her ashes at sea while playing a selection of her favorite tunes. We encourage her friends to pick an activity that you know she loved, and embrace it wholeheartedly in her honor.
She will be missed greatly by all of her friends and family.
