Barbara's obituary

Barbara Lynn Bender Eichholtz, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and lifelong educator, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, surrounded by love and family in the hospital. She was 88 years old.

Born on April 7, 1937, Barbara dedicated her life to nurturing the minds and hearts of others. A passionate teacher, she spent her career helping students grow not just in knowledge, but in character. While she loved academics, her greatest joy came from introducing others to the love of their Heavenly Father. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she lived it out daily—offering kindness, compassion, and help to anyone in need.

Barbara never met a stranger, and one of her greatest joys was greeting everyone at church with a warm hug. Her embrace made people feel seen, welcomed, and loved—something she believed every person deserved.

She is survived by her children: William Henry Eichholtz (married to Keli), Susan Rennie (married to Rusty), Rob Eichholtz (married to Sandy), Beth Elliott (married to Chad), Sarah Turner, and Stephen Eichholtz (married to April). She was a proud grandmother to Cory, Tyler, Drew, Anna, Emily, Caroline, Kate, Elise, and Esther, and a beloved great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren.

Her life of service, love, and unwavering faith will be celebrated at a memorial service on June 28 in Concord, North Carolina. All who knew and loved Barbara are welcome to attend and honor a woman whose heart and impact were as wide as her smile.

Barbara will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and education will continue to live on in every life she touched.
