CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF
BARBARA “BOBBY” JEAN EDWARDS
Barbara Jean Edwards was born on April 10, 1948 in St Landry Parish. She was the daughter of the late Aurelien and Mayea Edwards. Barbara is a native of Eunice, Louisiana but she lived in North Hollywood California. After working with the Los Angeles Unified School District, she returned home to Louisiana to assist in caring for her elderly mother during her retiring years.
Barbara was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Her passion was cooking big meals for family for special occasions and holidays. Her nieces and great nieces say she was the “fun aunt”. She loved life and having a good time with family and friends. Her outgoing personality will truly be missed by those who shared a relationship with her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kenry James Carter; parents, Aurelien and Mayea Edwards; and siblings, Mary Jane Ned, Mary Lou Jackson, Ethel Lee Frank, Irene Davis, and Gene Autry Edwards.
Barbara leaves to mourn her only daughter, Jessica Carter of Lafayette LA; and her son, Derrick (Wilma) Carter of New Orleans, LA. Her 5 grandsons: Tommy Young, Kendall (Britany) Young, and Jonathan (Miesha) Carter of Lafayette, LA; Jayden Carter and Miguel Cabading of New Orleans, LA. Her 2 granddaughters: Briana Carter of Dallas, TX and Amina Decuir of New Orleans, LA. Her 5 great grandchildren: Carter Moore, Karlie Young, Cruz Young, Marlei Mouton and Milo Carter. And her siblings: Harry Edwards of Lafayette, LA; George Edwards of El Paso, TX; Geneva Hall of Dallas, TX and Anna Lou (Benny) Fontenot of Humble, TX. Her Goddaughters were Christina Fontenot and Tanya Sonnier. She had a host of nieces and nephews.
