Barbara's obituary
Barbara Sue Diehl, affectionately known as "Barbie Sue," passed away on January 4, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on April 2, 1938, in Chillicothe, Ohio, Barbara made her home in Columbus, Ohio, where she cherished her time with family and friends.
Barbara was married to Robert Eugene Diehl (passed July 27th, 2021) for an enduring 50 years, a partnership marked by love and mutual support. Together, they raised four children: Brian Keith, Brenda Sue, William Eugene, and Betty Jane. Barbara found immense joy in being a mother and was proud of her family, which expanded to include her beloved grandchildren, Amanda Jean, Angela Elaine, and Nicholas William.
A talented seamstress and knitter, Barbara also loved baking and was known for her delicious Italian dishes and hamburgers. She enjoyed listening to the radio and found pleasure in her “stories” (The Young & The Restless)
Each year, Barbara looked forward to trips to the Great Smokey Mountains, her favorite place in the world, where she felt a deep connection to nature. A devoted fan of the OSU Buckeyes, she cheered them on every Sunday. She brought joy and kindness to everyone around her.
Barbara dedicated over 30 years of her life to working at The Gap, where she touched the lives of many. Her spirit and warmth will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held at the home of her daughter Brenda, on January 7th, 2025.
