Barbara Collins Washington, the eldest child of the late Lessie Collins Houston and Edward Collins was born on August 23, 1946. She attended schools in Leon County, but graduated from Eustis Vocational High School and obtained an Associates degree from Lake Sumter Community College In Leesburg, Florida. She received Christ at an early age and was a former member of St. James CME Church in Tallahassee, Florida before she moved back to Eustis and then she was a faithful member of St James AME church in Eustis, Florida. She courageously battled with illness and died on Friday, July 27, 2023.  Barbara was married to Alvin D. Washington who preceded her in death, as well as her other, Lessie Houston, father, Edward Collins and stepfather, Theodore Roosevelt Houston. 

Those left behind to cherish her memory: a devoted and loving son, Dondre' Theron Collins- Eustis, Florida loving and a loving grandson, Elias Collins- Tampa; Sisters: E. Joycelyn Benham, Sandra C. Wright, PhD (Will Wright) both of Atlanta; brothers: Gregory L. Collins - Atlanta; A. Shawn Collins- Daytona Beach, and a host of nieces and nephews and others relatives and friends

Big Sis, as the years passed by you stayed a loving and kind person. You were willing to share with anyone, especially your siblings and many nieces and nephews. We know that you are smiling from up above. We will truly miss you!
